Numerous Nintendo Switch 2 owners are discovering punctured screens after retailers stapled receipts directly to their console boxes. Photographic evidence shows how staples easily penetrate the packaging's thin cardboard exterior and minimal protective plastic sleeve.
Midnight Launch Turns Sour
"GameStop stapled receipts to mine and my friends' Switch 2 boxes," lamented one buyer after attending a midnight launch. "Now I'm stuck waiting months for restock." Multiple images reveal damaged consoles from the same Staten Island GameStop location.
A Reddit user reported: "Midnight release disaster - over 100 people got screwed." Another victim tweeted Nintendo and GameStop directly: "1756 Forest Ave location stapled receipts through my screen." Neither company has responded yet.
Packaging Design Under Scrutiny
While criticizing GameStop employees' actions, fans are questioning Nintendo's packaging decisions. "Why expose the screen facing upwards with barely any protection?" asked one frustrated buyer.
The Switch 2 ships with its screen positioned at the box's top layer, protected only by cardboard. One social media user predicted correctly: "We'll see many reports of damaged screens from normal shipping and handling."
