inZOI Will No Longer Have Denuvo DRM

The inZOI development team has confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from their game. Over the past 24 hours, reports surfaced indicating that the Creative Studio mode demo contained the anti-tamper software. Denuvo DRM has long been a contentious issue in the gaming community, with many arguing that it impacts game performance negatively.

Denuvo is a DRM and anti-tamper technology aimed at thwarting unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, making it challenging for pirates to release cracked versions.

In a Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim addressed these concerns, stating that the upcoming Early Access build, set to launch on Friday, will be free of DRM. "We initially opted for Denuvo to safeguard the game against illegal distribution, hoping to maintain fairness for those who purchased it legitimately. However, upon reviewing community feedback, we realized this did not align with our players' desires," Kjun explained.

He also extended an apology for not disclosing that Denuvo would be part of the Creative Studio mode. Kjun noted that while removing DRM might increase the risk of the game being cracked and illegally distributed, it would significantly enhance inZOI's configurability, allowing players more freedom to customize and create unique experiences. "We believe fostering this freedom from the start will lead to innovative and enduring enjoyment for our community," he said.

inZOI Being A Highly Moddable Game

The importance of modding to inZOI's gameplay has been emphasized by the developers, making the initial inclusion of Denuvo, which hinders modding, a point of confusion for players.

Kjun reiterated, "As I mentioned during the Online Showcase, our commitment is to make inZOI a highly moddable game. Our initial official mod support will roll out in May, enabling players to use tools like Maya and Blender to craft custom content. This is just the beginning. We plan to broaden mod support to more areas of the game, allowing for extensive customization and enhancement of your experience."

He also mentioned that a dedicated post with further details on modding would be forthcoming. Krafton continues to place players at the forefront, actively listening to community feedback and making necessary adjustments to ensure a high-quality gaming experience.

inZOI is scheduled for an Early Access release on March 28, 2025, on PC, with a full launch planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact date for the full release has yet to be announced.
