A PlayStation studio, newly formed from former Bungie employees, is reportedly developing a MOBA titled "Gummy Bears." Initially conceived at Bungie, this project, codenamed "Gummy Bears," has undergone a significant shift, transferring development to a new Sony subsidiary.
This unique MOBA, rumored to be in development since at least 2022, distinguishes itself with a gameplay mechanic inspired by the Super Smash Bros. series. Instead of traditional health bars, Gummy Bears utilizes a percentage-based damage system, resulting in knockback effects and the possibility of being knocked off the map. This system, combined with the standard MOBA character classes (Attack, Defense, Support), and multiple game modes, creates a distinct gameplay experience.
The game's art style is described as cozy, vibrant, and "lo-fi," a stark contrast to Bungie's previous titles. This stylistic choice, along with the innovative damage system, aims to attract a younger audience than Bungie's typical player base. While the release date remains uncertain, the project's transition to a new studio suggests it's still in the relatively early stages of development. The game's overall design aims for a fresh, family-friendly approach, setting it apart from Bungie's established portfolio.
