Supercell's Squad Busters to Shut Down After Final Update

Supercell has announced the discontinuation of Squad Busters, its globally launched title from May 2024. For a studio renowned for enduring hits such as Clash Royale and Brawl Stars, this move comes as a surprise. Upon its release, the game generated immense excitement and drew in millions of players.

Regrettably, that momentum didn't hold. Departing from Supercell’s earlier strategy of extended beta testing, the team opted for a quicker, wider global rollout this time. By early 2025, however, it became clear the game had not evolved as intended.

In an attempt to revitalize the experience, Supercell launched the Heroes update—one of the most ambitious live changes the company had ever made. Yet even this sweeping overhaul couldn't resolve the core problems. That led to today’s announcement.

When is Squad Busters shutting down?

The studio confirmed that active development will officially conclude following a final update in December 2025. The servers will stay online for a limited period after that, with a complete shutdown expected sometime in 2026—no earlier than mid-year.

In-app purchases were disabled as of 11:00 AM UTC on October 30th. Gamers who made purchases during 2025 can request to transfer their spending's value to another Supercell game. Eligible titles include Clash Royale, Brawl Stars, Clash of Clans, Hay Day, and Boom Beach.

The transfer process opens on November 10th via Player Support and remains available until the end of 2025. In addition, a Q&A session is scheduled for November 13th, where developers will discuss the decision and reflect on the game's journey.

Supercell is thanking the community with free bundles across its other titles

These rewards are distributed via the Supercell Store and are tiered according to total Squad Busters playtime. Previously exclusive Squad-themed cosmetic items will return one last time, giving players a chance to preserve a memory of the game within Supercell’s other universes. The rewards will be accessible from November 10th through the end of 2025.
