Exciting changes are on the horizon for REPO, as the developers at Semiwork plan to revamp the game's difficulty scaling and introduce new mechanics every 10 levels. Dive into the details about the upcoming Overcharge mechanic adjustments and discover what the team has been working on during the game's open beta.
REPO Development Updates
Overcharge Overhaul
During the recent open beta of REPO, the developers at Semiwork gathered crucial feedback from fans, leading to significant changes in the game's Overcharge mechanic. The Overcharge feature allows players to strategically counter enemies by picking them up and throwing them onto hard surfaces or away from their team. However, this isn't something players can do freely; an Overcharge meter limits its use. When the meter fills up, the player will explode, adding a layer of risk and strategy to the gameplay.
Originally, the Overcharge mechanic was accessible from the game's start, but the developers have decided to unlock it at level 10. Moreover, they plan to introduce new mechanics that increase difficulty at levels 20, 30, and beyond, with Overcharge serving as the initial challenge in this progression.
These new mechanics will also be intricately tied to REPO's lore, ensuring they enhance the game's narrative. As Semiwork explained, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."
Developers Joined Open Beta Matchmaking
In an effort to directly engage with the community, Semiwork developers participated in random matches during the open beta. Pontus Sundstrom, a developer at Semiwork, expressed his delight at seeing players enjoy the new features they introduced.
Sundstrom shared, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." He continued, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."
With the valuable feedback received, Semiwork is committed to further enhancing REPO. Players can anticipate exciting updates as the developers promise to unveil more details soon. To stay informed about the latest developments in R.E.P.O., be sure to check out our article below!
