"Dead by Daylight Devs Eye The Thing and Cujo as Top Killer Picks"

By EthanMay 28,2025

The horror universe of Dead by Daylight is expanding with the much-anticipated arrival of Five Nights at Freddy's, but the creative minds at Behaviour Interactive aren't stopping there. In a recent chat with IGN, the team behind the acclaimed asymmetrical horror game shared their ongoing aspirations to enrich the game's roster with even more iconic horror figures.

Killer Designer and horror aficionado Jason Guzzo has been instrumental in bringing terrifying figures like Chucky, Dracula, and Springtrap into the game. Yet, his ultimate goal remains elusive: integrating The Thing into Dead by Daylight. "I have been here for two and a half years, and I have been on a crusade to figure out how to get The Thing into Dead by Daylight," Guzzo passionately shared. Despite the absence of any official discussions above his level, Guzzo's dream is clear: to bring his favorite horror movie, The Thing, into the game. He acknowledges the potential design challenges, given the nature of The Thing as a mimic murderer, but remains steadfast in his ambition.

Creative Director Dave Richard echoed the sentiment of continuous exploration for new additions, mentioning Pennywise as a thrilling prospect. However, Richard's vision extends beyond well-known villains. "There are other kings of horror that would be amazing to have," he remarked, hinting at a desire to encompass a wide array of horror icons. Richard playfully mentioned Stephen King's Cujo and Christine as potential, albeit unconventional, additions to the game. While a dog or a car as a Killer would certainly be a departure from the norm, Richard believes there's a way to make such unique characters work within the game's timeline.

As Dead by Daylight approaches its ninth anniversary, the game shows no signs of slowing down. The Five Nights at Freddy's Chapter, featuring Springtrap and a new pizzeria map, is set to launch on June 17.
