Netflix is venturing into the world of MMOs with the upcoming release of Spirit Crossing, a cozy life-simulation game developed by Spry Fox. Announced at GDC 2025, this game builds on the success of Spry Fox’s earlier titles, such as Cozy Grove and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit. Players can anticipate enchanting pastel visuals, calming music, and a strong focus on building connections rather than fostering competition.

In Spirit Crossing, you'll have the opportunity to explore an expansive world, construct and personalize your homes, and cultivate a vibrant village alongside other players. Activities include gathering resources, riding on adorable fluffy creatures, participating in dance parties, and simply enjoying the company of friends.

The game's visual style draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and the modern art style of Corporate Memphis. The aim is to create an environment that feels timeless and welcoming, encouraging players to settle in for the long haul.

A unique feature of Spirit Crossing is its in-game calendar system, which influences the game’s progression. For instance, trees you plant will take three to six real-world months to mature into a harvestable orchard. This slow-paced, long-term design echoes the approach Spry Fox took with Cozy Grove.

At the heart of Spirit Crossing is the emphasis on forging meaningful connections, a core element of Spry Fox’s design philosophy. Studio co-founder David Edery has expressed his vision for the game to be a space where strangers can become friends.
