"Carey Mulligan Joins Barbie Director's Narnia Reboot Cast"

The highly anticipated reboot of the beloved Narnia series, helmed by the acclaimed writer and director Greta Gerwig, has added yet another stellar name to its cast: Carey Mulligan. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mulligan joins an already impressive lineup that includes former James Bond actor Daniel Craig, Sex Education's Emma Mackey, and the iconic Meryl Streep.

Greta Gerwig, fresh off the success of her blockbuster hit, the Barbie movie, will once again take on dual roles as both writer and director for this new adaptation of C.S. Lewis' timeless fantasy saga, The Chronicles of Narnia. The upcoming film will delve into the series' prequel, The Magician's Nephew, set before the events of the well-known The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Carey Mulligan, renowned for her numerous awards and nominations including Oscars, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes, is set to portray Mabel Kirke, the mother of the story's young protagonist, Digory. Daniel Craig will take on the role of the titular magician and Digory's uncle, while Emma Mackey will bring to life a younger version of Narnia's notorious villain, the White Witch. Meryl Streep will lend her voice to the majestic and god-like lion, Aslan.

This isn't the first time Narnia has been brought to the big screen. A previous trilogy, released between 2005 and 2010, adapted the first three books of the series: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Those films starred Tilda Swinton as the White Witch and Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan.

Following the unexpected box office success of her 2023 film, Barbie, which garnered eight Academy Award nominations and won for Best Original Song, Gerwig's vision for Narnia promises to captivate audiences once again. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew is slated for release in 2026, offering fans a fresh and enchanting journey into the magical world of Narnia.
