Mario + Rabbids Creator Davide Soliani Announces New Platforming Game Bradley the Badger | The Game Awards 2025

Davide Soliani, the visionary mind behind the Mario + Rabbids series, has unveiled Bradley the Badger — his debut project since departing Ubisoft and launching his own studio, Day 4 Night Studios.

Bradley the Badger blends nostalgic platforming with inventive mechanics and a self-aware narrative that follows players as they assist a video game mascot in completing its creator’s unfinshed legacy. The trailer, revealed tonight at The Game Awards 2025, pays clear homage to Bloodborne, Cyberpunk 2077, and The Last of Us, and features Marvel actor Evan Peters in the role of Bradley.

As the first title from Day 4 Night Studios, co-founded by Soliani and veteran developer Christian Cantamessa — known for Red Dead Redemption, Shadow of Mordor, and Perfect Dark — the game brings together a team of former Ubisoft creatives: Cristina Nava, Gian Marco Zanna, and Luca Breda, who previously contributed to Mario + Rabbids, Just Dance, and Ghost Recon.

As you explore Bradley’s evolving universe, you’ll journey through a series of unfinished game worlds, using an in-game Developer Kit to navigate and reshape them. The experience also includes select live-action sequences that frame your progress as part of a larger story about creation and connection.

"Bradley the Badger is a heartfelt tribute to gaming, imagination, and every person who’s ever felt trapped in their creative path," says the official description. "Beyond the digital realms, the journey unfolds through brief live-action moments that dive into familiar tropes, genres, and styles pulled from today’s most influential games and media."

Soliani rose to fame as the passionate architect of Mario + Rabbids, a whimsical and unexpectedly brilliant strategy hybrid released for Nintendo Switch. His tearful reaction to the game’s announcement at E3 2017 became a viral moment, but he left Ubisoft in 2024 after two decades on the team, following the release of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope — a title Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot later admitted was launched prematurely, missing a golden opportunity to make a bigger impact on Switch 2.

"What we’re building at Day 4 Night is a mirror of everything I’ve ever dreamed of as a player — joy, adventure, emotion, action, wonder, and the deep satisfaction of creating alongside trusted friends," Soliani shared. "It’s a lullaby for my soul and a love song to our industry, to the beauty and chaos of building worlds from nothing. It’s a story of struggles, victories, hopes, and the shared light that guides us forward."
