Borderlands 4 Developers Promise Groundbreaking Endgame

Gearbox Software has shared numerous details about Borderlands 4's gameplay and lore ahead of its release, with Creative Director Graeme Timmins recently confirming the game will feature a particularly ambitious endgame. In a July 7 interview with Game Informer, Timmins revealed insights about Borderlands 4's post-campaign content.

Timmins, who helped design Borderlands 3's endgame, explained the team incorporated lessons from previous franchise entries to create their strongest endgame experience yet. "We've considered Borderlands 4's endgame from the start, implementing community-requested features and building upon our past work with Wonderlands and Borderlands to deliver the ultimate endgame experience," Timmins stated.

Community Creates Skill Planner Despite Changes Likely

Enthusiastic fans have already developed a skill tree planner for unreleased characters Vex and Rafa, created by Twitter user Byrd in collaboration with Maxroll.gg. Timmins cautioned fans that abilities may change before launch, noting: "This is fantastic work! Just remember we're still balancing characters, so skills shown in demos may differ at release."

New "Welcome To Kairos" Trailer Expands Game World

The latest "BEYOND THE BORDERLANDS" episode introduces players to the prison planet Kairos and its ruthless ruler, the Time Keeper. This 7-minute showcase details new factions including The Outbounders and The Augurs, each with distinct motivations that players must navigate to build resistance against planetary oppression.

Borderlands 4's Antagonist and World Building

Narrative Director Sam Winkler described their goal to create a uniquely menacing villain: "We wanted someone omnipresent but not overbearing." Managing Director Lin Joyce added the game serves as a turning point in the Borderlands universe that will satisfy both veterans and newcomers.

With innovative features like seamless loading and an enhanced weapon system, Borderlands 4 aims to redefine the franchise when it launches September 12, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
