The Blood of Dawnwalker's game reveal event unveiled exciting details about this upcoming open-world dark fantasy action-RPG. Dive in to learn more!
Welcome to Vale Sangora
Follow Coen, the Dawnwalker Protagonist
Revealed on January 16th, The Blood of Dawnwalker offers a narrative-driven experience set in the fictional 14th-century Medieval European land of Vale Sangora. Players embody Coen, a Dawnwalker—a unique protagonist described by Narrative Director Jakub Szamalek as "a young guy who at heart is emotional, he can get vulnerable, he’s honest about how he feels." The trailer depicts Coen's conflict with Brencis, an ancient vampire who controls Vale Sangora. Coen's mission: save his family within 30 days and nights. While the game adheres to this timeframe, developers assure players ample playtime. Coen's abilities, hinted at in the trailer—superhuman agility, phasing, and magic—leave fans eager for more.
Rebel Wolves addressed many fan questions via their Discord server's FAQ channel. Dawnwalkers, it turns out, are neither fully human nor fully vampire, but something distinct. The game's magic system, unlike typical high-fantasy, focuses on "the occult—rituals, amulets, relics, and summonings, rather than fireballs or lightning bolts."
A Narrative Sandbox with Rich Character Interactions
Coen, cursed with silver poisoning, strives to save his family. However, the game emphasizes player agency, offering a "narrative sandbox" with multiple paths to achieve the overarching goal. The nonlinear storyline and dynamic world react to player choices. While maintaining a single-player focus (no multiplayer or co-op), the game features romanceable characters, allowing Coen to forge relationships with various races, including uriashi, kobolds, and potentially even werewolves.
Developed by Rebel Wolves—a studio featuring former CD Projekt Red developers—The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A release date is yet to be announced.
