Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Announced, Featuring Open World Gotham

By CarterMay 20,2026

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live, showcasing a sprawling open-world Gotham City where players can explore in the Batmobile.

Developed by TT Games—creators of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and many other licensed titles—the game is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch 2, PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The title features characters and levels inspired by iconic Batman films and comics, with combat mechanics reminiscent of the Arkham series. Additionally, Matt Berry voices Bane.

“Whether he’s the wrathful Dark Knight, the brilliant detective, or the unlikely father of the ‘Batfam,’ Batman has constantly evolved — shaped by the world around him while remaining a timeless symbol,” said Jim Lee, President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer, DC.

“This game brings together nearly every facet of his legacy, letting you experience the full range of what makes Batman iconic. Built with incredible care, creativity, and deep respect for the mythos, TT Games has crafted a love letter to the world of Batman.”

TT Games once dominated the market for licensed Lego video games on PC and consoles, releasing new titles annually. From 2005 to 2022, the studio launched at least 20 Lego games, with numerous entries based on Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, and Star Wars franchises. The company also experimented with the toys-to-life genre through Lego Dimensions and sandbox gameplay in Lego Worlds.

TT Games' latest Batman entry arrives in a changing landscape, featuring diverse Lego titles from other developers, deep integration of the Lego brand into Fortnite, and a significant gap since 2022's Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. It will be intriguing to see how this new developer iteration unfolds.
