Despite an exciting pre-launch crossover event featuring Super Monkey Ball, Altered Beast, and other Sega classics, Sonic Rumble won't be making its global debut just yet. The multiplayer battle royale game, which had garnered over 1.4 million pre-registrations, has been delayed as Sega focuses on enhancing the gaming experience with the upcoming version 1.2 update.
Sonic Rumble's delay is to accommodate the introduction of the version 1.2 update, which is set to revolutionize Dr. Eggman's toybox world with exciting new features. These include Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills, all designed to enhance the core gameplay and give players more to strive for beyond just securing a win.
Rumble Rankings will introduce seasonal leaderboards where players can compete for rewards, while Crews will enable you and your friends to tackle score missions together. The new Skills system will add a strategic layer by equipping characters with unique abilities.
Instead of rushing these updates mid-launch, Sega has chosen to take the necessary time to perfect them. In the meantime, fans can look forward to a Q&A session scheduled for May 2nd on Discord, where they can learn more about the game's future and ask their burning questions.

The delay hasn't dampened the game's momentum; all pre-registration rewards remain secure, including 5,000 Rings, a Crystal Chao Buddy, the Happy Sticker, the Garnet Knuckles skin, and the exclusive Movie Sonic skin for reaching the 1.4 million pre-registration milestone. When the game finally launches, players will start with a substantial collection of goodies.
