Metal Gear Solid Delta Countdown Begins - Online Mode Coming Later

New Details Emerge About Metal Gear Solid Delta Release

The highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches in mere weeks, though players will need to exercise patience for Fox Hunt – the game's innovative online multiplayer component.

While the single-player campaign arrives August 28th across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms, Fox Hunt will debut through a seasonal update simply labeled "fall" – Konami's current level of specificity regarding timing.

A Brand New Multiplayer Experience

Introduced last June, Fox Hunt represents a completely fresh multiplayer direction distinct from Metal Gear Online (MGO), the discontinued mode that accompanied Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in 2008 (server support ended in 2012).

"Fox Hunt offers an entirely original multiplayer approach," explained Yu Sahara, veteran Metal Gear developer and the mode's current director. "While sharing Snake Eater's universe, the gameplay innovates significantly."

"We recognize fans' nostalgia for MGO, but multiplayer gaming has evolved tremendously since then. Developing Fox Hunt required extensive deliberation about what constitutes compelling modern multiplayer – beyond simple shooting mechanics."

Sahara emphasized Fox Hunt's focus on amplifying Metal Gear's signature stealth and survival mechanics, transforming camouflage and hide-and-seek dynamics into next-level experiences rather than traditional combat encounters.

Beyond multiplayer, Delta faithfully recreates the acclaimed 2004 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Notably, series creator Hideo Kojima has publicly stated he won't be experiencing this remake himself.
