Mark Hamill Shares Demi Moore's Praise Post-BAFTA Mishap

By OliviaSep 10,2025

Star Wars icon Mark Hamill experienced an unexpected wardrobe mishap at the 2025 BAFTAs - and the actor shared how fellow Hollywood legend Demi Moore reacted when it happened.

During an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Hamill described the incident as "the ultimate actor's nightmare" when his trousers began slipping down while presenting the Best Film award to Conclave.

He revealed that his formal wear had seemed fine during fittings before the ceremony. "I tried those pants twice - first in California where they felt snug but acceptable. My stylist asked if they needed adjustment and I suggested letting them out slightly," explained Hamill, who was promoting Mike Flanagan's new film The Life of Chuck.

The situation escalated last-minute in London. "Twenty minutes before departure, I discovered they'd been loosened too much. Our dresser Mary secured them with a safety pin, which I thought would suffice," Hamill continued.

The solution proved temporary. "As I walked to the podium after being introduced, I felt the pin give way. With every step, my pants descended further - by the time I reached the microphone, they were around my knees!"

Scanning the audience for his wife, Hamill instead locked eyes with Demi Moore. When he silently mouthed "Did you see my pants fall down?", Moore responded with an approving thumbs-up and warm smile.

Displaying Jedi-like composure, Hamill powered through. "I focused intently on maintaining professionalism, sticking strictly to the teleprompter without acknowledging the situation," he told Colbert.

BAFTA organizers later informed Hamill that while the podium concealed the mishap from front-row attendees, side audiences had full view of his predicament. The actor humorously reassured Colbert's audience: "Tonight my pants are definitely staying up."

When asked about potentially reprising his role as Luke Skywalker's Force ghost, Hamill firmly stated the Star Wars franchise should now focus on new characters rather than legacy appearances, effectively ruling out future returns as the iconic Jedi.
