Lies of P Overture DLC Updates
Open To Any Sort of Considerations
Lies of P Director Choi Ji-Won has expressed a renewed enthusiasm after participating in Elden Ring: Nightreign's network test. Speaking at the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi shared with Eurogamer his thoughts on the evolution of the Souls genre. His admiration for FromSoftware games is well-known and is reflected in Lies of P's design.
Choi commented on Elden Ring: Nightreign, saying, "I've tried [Nightreign] and it was very refreshing and new. This experience reinforced my belief in the innovative spirit of these developers. They consistently push boundaries, showcasing their imagination and vision, which in turn inspired me to elevate the Overture experience to its fullest potential."
He further revealed his openness to exploring multiplayer games, stating, "In terms of our future endeavors, we are definitely open to any sort of consideration in the future."
Despite his affinity for FromSoftware games, Choi emphasized during an interview with Games Radar+ at the 2025 GDC that his inspirations are not limited to a single game. He explained, "I'm a fan of many different types of games, and I draw inspiration from a variety of experiences. These diverse influences are molded into the unique Lies of P experience. It's a blend of inspirations from numerous games that I love, which I then transform into something special for the fans of Lies of P."
Overture Takes 15-20 Hours for Experienced Players
Choi disclosed that the Overture DLC is expected to take experienced players between 15 to 20 hours to complete. This expansion is packed with new bosses and content that the developers initially intended for the base game's launch. He described the development process, saying, "Overture is not just an add-on but deeply connected to the base game. Creating this expansion was akin to completing the Lies of P experience, which presented its own set of challenges."
Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to the final days of Krat, following a legendary Stalker. This DLC incorporates new ideas, player feedback, and unused concepts that couldn't be included in the initial release due to production constraints. Choi likened Overture to a Director's Cut, suggesting it completes the narrative arc of the game.
He added, "When we launched the base game, we had to prioritize quality over quantity. The overwhelming support from the community encouraged us to deliver everything we envisioned in this expansion."
Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game
During an interview with IGN at the 2025 Game Developers Conference, Choi clarified that the Overture DLC does not directly connect to the final cutscene of the base game. While the ending of the base game hinted at potential directions for the Lies of P universe, Choi confirmed in a Director's Letter video in November 2023 that a sequel is in the works, though details about Lies of P 2 remain scarce.
Choi assured fans, "When we release news or media about future projects, you can be confident that we are fully prepared to share it with you. Our focus on quality remains unwavering, despite any pressures we've discussed before. This is a promise we stand by."
He encouraged players to revisit the base game, noting that it contains clues about the content of the upcoming DLC. Choi also mentioned that he has been following fan theories online, some of which he found remarkably insightful.
Lies of P: Overture is slated for release in Summer 2025, though a precise date has not yet been announced. The expansion will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates by checking out our related article below!
