Legendary game designer Hideo Kojima recently mirrored Tom Cruise's philosophy when discussing his creative future, stating emphatically: "Creation is my life's purpose - I'll continue until my last breath."

Since joining Konami in 1986, Kojima has pioneered revolutionary gaming experiences including the cyberpunk adventure Snatcher, the sunlight-dependent GBA title Boktai, and the legendary P.T. demo. In a recent interview about Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Game*Spark explored Kojima's enduring creative drive.

"I'm just like Tom Cruise (laughs)," Kojima revealed. "My entire existence revolves around creation - that's my greatest joy. As long as my body and mind function, I'll keep creating. The only condition is if it ever becomes a burden to those around me. But my ambition is to create until the very end."

This comparison references Cruise's recent declaration at Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning's premiere, where he told The Hollywood Reporter about his intention to keep acting well into his centenarian years.

Notably, Kojima's statement didn't limit itself to game development alone. This openness to broader creative horizons hints at potential non-gaming projects. During a Brut interview, Kojima acknowledged that after completing Microsoft's OD and Sony's Physint, he'd consider venturing into filmmaking.

While Kojima's games famously incorporate cinematic elements (we've precisely calculated their cutscene ratios), he clarified his fundamental approach to Game*Spark: "Movies profoundly influence my lighting, character design, and direction. But I'm always conscious that I'm crafting gameplay experiences - focusing on what only interactive media can achieve, including that distinctive playful spirit."

This signature playfulness manifests through surprising cameos and bizarre Easter eggs throughout his work. Explore our compilation of Death Stranding 2 secrets we've uncovered, or discover the peculiar hot spring interactions players can trigger.

The discussion naturally turns to film adaptations, particularly the potential Death Stranding movie that Norman Reedus enthusiastically supports starring in.
