Far Cry 4 Achieves 60fps on PS5

By DylanMay 31,2025

Eleven years following its initial launch, Far Cry 4 now operates smoothly at 60 frames per second (fps) on the PlayStation 5.

Discovered by gael_74 and shared within the Far Cry 4 subreddit, the game's update log notes that Version 1.08 introduces "support for 60 FPS on PS5." Consequently, if you haven’t played it yet, now seems like the ideal moment to dive in. Boasting one of the series' most memorable antagonists, Pagan Min, Far Cry 4 immerses players in a sprawling, vibrant open world set against the towering backdrop of the Himalayas—a landscape not merely aesthetic but a dynamic environment encouraging exploration, combat, and hunting.

"Filling its cast with weaker personalities, Far Cry 4 still shines through its campaign, cooperative multiplayer, and competitive modes, delivering exhilarating freedom," read IGN's "great" 8.5/10 review.

The 10 Best Far Cry Games

View 11 ImagesFar Cry 4 stands among the latest PS4-era Ubisoft titles to receive an unexpected upgrade in recent years, similar to Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. Fans on the subreddit eagerly anticipate further improvements, hoping other beloved entries like Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3 will similarly benefit from the 60 fps treatment.

Regrettably, the update arrived slightly tardy for some enthusiasts. "You’re kidding, right? I just got the platinum trophy three days ago," lamented one frustrated gamer.

Last month, Ubisoft established a subsidiary company centered around its Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchises, receiving a €1.16 billion ($1.25 billion) investment from Chinese conglomerate Tencent.

This development followed Ubisoft's announcement regarding Assassin's Creed Shadows surpassing 3 million players. Amid high-profile setbacks, layoffs, studio closures, and canceled projects leading up to Shadows' release, significant expectations weighed heavily on the title due to Ubisoft's historically low stock value.

Today, Ubisoft quietly incorporated Steam Achievements into the 12-year-old Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
