Assassin's Creed: Shadows Heading to Nintendo's Switch 2

By AlexisDec 07,2025

Assassin's Creed: Shadows could be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, and Ubisoft executives may have just hinted at its release.

During the company's latest earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot and CFO Frederick Duguet offered a mix of subtle and direct comments, strongly suggesting the game will arrive on the Switch 2 within this fiscal year.

Duguet first mentioned that Ubisoft’s lineup for the current fiscal year (ending March 2026) includes "a couple of other titles" set to be "announced at a later stage."

Later, responding to an investor's question, he added, "We also have a game that will be launched on the Switch 2." Although Star Wars: Outlaws is already confirmed for the platform, his reference to games "beyond the announced releases" implies at least one more Switch 2 title is in the works.

Guillemot then added another piece to the puzzle. While discussing Assassin's Creed: Shadows with another investor, he noted, "We also have some new versions that will come on other machines."

Currently, Assassin's Creed: Shadows is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Mac, GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna. He might have been referring to legacy systems like PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, or possibly even mobile—but the most plausible interpretation, especially considering Duguet’s earlier statements, is that he meant the Nintendo Switch 2.

At least one investor seemed to agree. The final question posed to Duguet directly asked whether Assassin's Creed: Shadows would be announced for Nintendo Switch 2.

However, Duguet carefully sidestepped the query: "We haven't said which other games will come on the console for that coming year."

This aligns with rumors that have circulated for months, including a PEGI rating for a Switch 2 version of Assassin's Creed: Shadows. While the rating could have been a mistake, it adds to the growing evidence that the game will arrive on Nintendo’s new system within the next eight months.

At launch, Assassin's Creed: Shadows earned a very positive review from us, scoring 8/10. Our reviewer wrote, "By refining its core mechanics, Assassin’s Creed Shadows delivers one of the strongest iterations of the open-world formula it has been perfecting over the last decade."
