Switch Access

Control your device effortlessly using switches or the front camera for a seamless experience. Whether you're navigating your phone or tablet, Switch Access offers an intuitive way to interact with your Android device without directly touching the screen. This feature is particularly beneficial if you have difficulty using the touchscreen.

To begin using Switch Access, follow these steps:

1. Open your device's Settings app.
2. Navigate to Accessibility > Switch Access.

Set up a switch

Switch Access enables you to scan and select items on your screen using various types of switches:

• Physical switches: Utilize USB or Bluetooth devices such as buttons or keyboards, or on-device options like volume buttons.
• Camera switches: Use facial gestures detected by the front camera, such as opening your mouth, smiling, raising your eyebrows, or looking in different directions.

Scan your device

Once your switch is set up, you can explore different scanning methods to interact with your device:

• Linear scanning: Move through items sequentially.
• Row-column scanning: Scan rows first, then select an item within the chosen row.
• Point scanning: Use intersecting lines to pinpoint a location on the screen.
• Group selection: Assign switches to color groups, narrowing down your selection until you reach the desired item.

Use the menus

When an item is highlighted, a menu appears offering actions like select, scroll, copy, paste, and more. Additionally, a top menu helps you navigate your device, allowing you to access notifications, return to the home screen, adjust volume, and more.

Navigate with Camera Switches

Leverage the front camera to control your device with facial gestures. You can browse and select apps easily, customizing the sensitivity and duration of each gesture to suit your preferences.

Record shortcuts

Enhance efficiency by recording touch gestures such as pinching, zooming, scrolling, swiping, and double tapping. Assign these gestures to a switch or menu, enabling you to perform complex actions, like turning multiple pages in an ebook, with a single switch.
