World of Warcraft China is adding two exciting new mounts: the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar. These stunning mounts are re-imagined versions of the incredibly rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar, previously only obtainable through exceptionally difficult raid encounters. While currently exclusive to China, their arrival marks another celebratory milestone following the renewed partnership between NetEase and Blizzard. This partnership brought World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, and Overwatch 2 back to the Chinese market, a return celebrated with events like the creation of a Lightforged Gorehowl statue and the introduction of the teleporting Xiao Liu pet.
New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotional Mounts
- Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
- Golden Ashes of Al'ar
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, visually similar to the Pureblood Fire Hawk (a rare drop from Ragnaros in Cataclysm's Firelands raid), boasts a unique feature: auspicious clouds (xiangyun) within its wings while in flight. These clouds, symbolic of peace, immortality, and good fortune, hold deep cultural significance in China. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, a resplendent golden version of the original Ashes of Al'ar (dropped by Kael'thas Sunstrider in The Burning Crusade's The Eye raid), features a stylish black saddle and evocative flavor text referencing Kael'thas' iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk is obtainable through an event called the Treasure Workshop, details of which are still emerging. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, however, is available via Landro’s Loot Box, costing ¥200 (approximately $27). This loot box contains one of eight items, including other prestigious rewards such as the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the extremely rare Swift Spectral Tiger (from the discontinued World of Warcraft TCG). Team-based purchasing offers bonus crates upon reaching specific spending milestones.
Currently, there's no indication whether these mounts will be released internationally. For now, players outside China can only admire these magnificent additions to the World of Warcraft collection.
