A Daily Grind: No-Hit Messmer Battles
Instead of passively awaiting the release of the co-op spin-off, Nightreign, chickensandwich420 devised a unique challenge: defeating Messmer, a notoriously difficult boss from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, every day. The twist? He uses a different weapon each time, aiming for a flawless, no-hit victory on NG+7.
This self-imposed marathon began on December 16, 2024. His initial plan involved various FromSoftware bosses, but his university studies limited his time. Messmer, known for its brutal difficulty (requiring 30-150 attempts for many players, even with top-tier gear), became his focus.
However, chickensandwich420 has a self-imposed deadline: June 2025. If Nightreign doesn't release by then, he'll shift his focus to other games. This means potentially over 160 days of battling Messmer. At the time of writing, he's on day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone, three-player co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is anticipated, FromSoftware's track record suggests potential delays. The success of chickensandwich420's Messmer marathon hinges on Nightreign's timely arrival.
