"Tribe Nine Cancelled Just Three Months Post-Launch"

By JoshuaMay 20,2025

It's rare for me to express true astonishment in writing, but I think I speak for most people when I say I was shocked to learn that Tribe Nine is set to be discontinued. According to a recent announcement, the servers will be shut down on November 27th, with any upcoming updates now cancelled and the game reaching its end of service (EOS).

The abrupt closure marks a bitter end for Tribe Nine, which just a couple of months ago celebrated surpassing ten million downloads. Inspired by the anime series of the same name and featuring art by Danganronpa's renowned artist Rui Komatsuzaki, the game offered traditional ARPG gameplay alongside the unique Xtreme Baseball boss battles that fans of the series would recognize.

The sudden cancellation of Tribe Nine adds to a troubling trend over the last few years, where numerous titles have been discontinued within less than a year of their launch. For fans, it can feel disheartening to invest time and emotion into these games, given the looming threat of EOS.

ytTribelessGiven that Rui Komatsuzaki's distinctive art style has been successful in other projects like Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy-, the reasons behind Tribe Nine's cancellation on this platform remain unclear. However, such an early termination could potentially impact the reputation of the developer, Akatsuki Games.

With another anime-inspired game, Kaiju No.8: The Game, on the horizon, Akatsuki Games is likely hoping to attract fans of that series. Yet, casual players might be hesitant, considering the company's recent track record. For fans of Tribe Nine, this news certainly doesn't make for a cheerful Friday.
