Short Circuit Studio has just rolled out an exciting new update for their recently launched settlement builder, TownsFolk. Titled "Shadows and Fortune," this update introduces a darker, more intriguing tone to the charming pixel-art adventure, enhancing the game's depth with a slew of new mechanics and features.

Despite being newly launched, TownsFolk is not holding back on adding layers to its already rich gameplay. The "Shadows and Fortune" update brings a fresh set of challenges and buildings to the mix. You'll encounter roaming Barbarians, adding a thrilling edge to your campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Alongside these, eight new structures will transform your town's landscape: the Altar, the Town Square, the Blacksmith, the Aqueduct, the Bank, the Granary, the Factory, and the Terraformer.

The update doesn't stop at land; water tiles are now home to the rare Whale, adding a splash of mystery to your aquatic explorations. Moreover, Special Locations like ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks introduce more unpredictability to your journey. What secrets do these ancient Obelisks hold? Only your exploration will tell.

To help you navigate this expanded world, the update includes a Compendium, acting as an in-game encyclopedia to keep track of all the new additions. The Exploration System has been revamped, and now you can adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, tailoring the challenge to your playstyle.
