Perry spoke candidly with Deadline about the production of the new film and his journey with the franchise, which began back in 2000. He shared insights into Todd's declining health during filming, noting the emotional weight of knowing this would be the actor's last cinematic role.
"Our directors made a bold move by taking the final lines of the script and asking Tony, 'Just speak from the heart. What would you want to say to the fans?'” Perry recalled. “The emotion in that scene is real because it’s Tony speaking directly to the audience who adored him for decades. It was a magical moment on set—a deeply moving experience I’ll carry with me always."
