Take-Two CEO Optimistic About Nintendo Switch 2

By LucyMay 17,2025

As we approach the much-anticipated launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 in less than a month, the gaming industry is buzzing with discussions about pricing, tariffs, and game key cards. Amid this excitement, one third-party publisher, Take-Two Interactive, expresses a high level of confidence in the new console. In a recent Q&A session with investors following the company's full-year earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick shared his "great optimism" for Nintendo's upcoming platform.

Zelnick highlighted the improved support from Nintendo for third-party publishers this time around, a significant shift from past experiences. "We're launching four titles with Nintendo Switch 2, and that's I think a bigger array of releases than we've ever offered before with a new Nintendo platform," he stated. Historically, third-party involvement in the Nintendo ecosystem has faced challenges, but Zelnick feels that Nintendo has been proactive in addressing these issues. Take-Two's enthusiasm for the platform is evident, as they are set to release Civilization 7 on launch day (June 5), followed by entries in the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (though specific titles and dates remain unclear), and Borderlands 4 on September 12.

While these titles are not unexpected, given Take-Two's previous releases on the original Nintendo Switch, Zelnick's comments suggest potential for further releases, particularly from the company's extensive back catalog. Although a port of GTA 6 seems unlikely, there's a possibility that GTA V could make its way to the Switch 2 in the future.

In a pre-call interview, Zelnick also discussed the development timeline of GTA 6 and addressed the game's recent delay to next year, providing further insight into Take-Two's strategic plans and ongoing projects.
