Nightdive Studios has officially rebranded their latest project as System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster, injecting new energy into a beloved cult classic. This enhanced version is set to launch on a variety of platforms, including PC (available on Steam and GOG), PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.
The much-anticipated release date for this remaster will be announced during the Future Games Show: Spring Showcase on March 20, 2025. This event will mark a significant moment, introducing the iconic sci-fi RPG to a fresh audience.

Originally released in 1999, System Shock 2 set the standard for the genre, masterfully merging survival horror with intricate RPG elements. The remastered edition aims to maintain the game's chilling ambiance while upgrading it with contemporary graphics and technical improvements.
Nightdive Studios, celebrated for their work in reviving the System Shock series through projects like the 2013 remaster of System Shock 2 and the 2023 remake of the original game, had initially planned to release this remaster concurrently with the System Shock remake. However, unexpected development challenges led to a shift in their timeline.
The 2023 remake of System Shock received a warm welcome, achieving a Metacritic score of 78/100, a user score of 7.6/10, and an impressive 91% positive rating on Steam. With the remaster of System Shock 2 now approaching its unveiling, the anticipation among fans is palpable.
