Nintendo Switch 2 Sells 3.5M Units in 4 Days, Sets Record

By ClaireOct 22,2025

Nintendo confirms the Switch 2 has broken company records as its fastest-selling hardware worldwide, with more than 3.5 million units sold in just four days.

The gaming giant announced the milestone on Twitter/X, stating: "#NintendoSwitch2 has sold over 3.5 million units worldwide in its first four days, becoming the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware ever globally."

This remarkable achievement was likely aided by strong inventory availability - addressing past supply challenges Nintendo and competitors have faced. It validates Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser's promise that U.S. stock levels would meet launch demand.

The original Switch sold 2.74 million units during its entire launch month following release.

The announcement follows reports that Switch 2 became Nintendo's fastest-selling console in UK history, dethroning the Nintendo 3DS.

In our ongoing Switch 2 evaluation, we noted: "This sequel delivers precisely what fans anticipated - a thoughtful upgrade that modernizes the Switch formula while introducing meaningful quality-of-life improvements, though its ambitious new controller concept shows occasional hiccups."
