Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Receives Final Major Update, Ending Live Service Support
Rocksteady Studios has released the final major content update for its live-service title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Season 4 Episode 8, titled "Balance," is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This marks the end of new content development, though online features will remain active.
The game, released in February 2024 to mixed reception, will cease receiving updates after the January 14th patch. The decision, announced on December 9th, 2024, followed less than a year of post-launch support. Many attribute the game's short lifespan to its unexpectedly implemented live-service model.
Season 4 Episode 8 introduces significant additions:
- Libra Infamy Set: A high-risk, high-reward set that increases damage dealt and received by enemies based on stacked "Scales of Libra."
- Notorious Weapons: New weapons, including The Silencer's Complete Silence (with a powerful area-of-effect ability), Doctor Sivana's Magic Bullets (piercing and electrifying enemies), and Chronos' Equilibrium (bonus damage scaling with missing shield).
- Mayhem Mission: A final showdown against Brainiac.
- Gameplay Improvements: Reduced XP requirements for Squad Levels (with retroactive rewards), and adjustments to Deathstroke's Suicide Strike.
- Bug Fixes: A comprehensive list addressing various gameplay, UI, audio, and performance issues.
Despite the end of content updates, the game remains playable online. Furthermore, the December update (Season 4 Episode 7) introduced offline mode, allowing access to the main campaign and seasonal missions without an internet connection. While Rocksteady hasn't announced a server shutdown, offline play ensures continued accessibility for players.
For those who haven't experienced the game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is currently available on PlayStation Plus until February 3rd.
Season 4 Episode 8 Patch Notes Highlights:
New Content:
- Medieval Elseworld Expansion: Explore new areas within the medieval Elseworld, including The Quarry and The Arena.
- Libra Infamy Set: This set, inspired by the DC villain Libra, manipulates damage dealt and received by enemies based on stacked "Scales of Libra."
New Weapons:
- The Silencer's Complete Silence: Deals increased damage to enemies affected by Scales of Libra, featuring a powerful Alt-Fire creating a damage-reducing zone.
- Doctor Sivana's Magic Bullets: Piercing bullets that apply Scales of Libra and have a chance to electrify enemies.
- Chronos' Equilibrium: Deals bonus damage based on missing shield, rewarding aggressive play.
Gameplay Changes & Bug Fixes: Numerous gameplay adjustments, including reduced Squad Level XP requirements, and a wide array of bug fixes across various aspects of the game. See the full patch notes for a complete list.
Known Issues: A single known issue regarding incorrect tracking of Riddler challenges is noted.
The release of Season 4 Episode 8 concludes a chapter for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, leaving players with a final, substantial content drop before the game transitions to a purely online-accessible experience.
