Zynga has announced the complete shutdown of Star Wars Hunters just nine months after launch, canceling plans for a PC version on Steam.
The Rise and Fall of a Star Wars Arena Game
Developed by NaturalMotion, this free-to-play team battle arena game debuted on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android in June 2024. IGN's Star Wars: Hunters review rated it 7/10, noting: "Star Wars: Hunters offers fun PvP action that's entertaining in short bursts but lacks long-term staying power."
Zynga's statement revealed that after careful evaluation, the final content update will arrive on April 15, with servers remaining operational until October 1, 2025.
Community Reactions and Final Season Details
"We recognize this announcement may disappoint players," Zynga stated. "Our team deeply appreciates your enthusiasm and will ensure transparency during this transitional period."
Key milestones include:
- March 25: Season 5 extended by 3 weeks with returning events and shop bundles
- April 15: Final content update (including new Support Hunter Tuya) and purchase shutdown
- October 1: Complete server termination
Unfulfilled PC Ambitions
The planned Steam early access version, announced last November as Zynga's first PC venture, has been officially canceled. The Steam store page now displays a discontinued notice.
Zynga EVP Yaron Leyvan had previously stated: "The mobile and Switch success motivated our PC expansion to welcome more players to Vespaara."
