By GraceMar 26,2025

Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's inaugural venture into the Star Wars universe, is set to close its doors just over a year after its initial launch on iOS and Android. Launched in June 2024, the game quickly captured attention with its unique blend of game show aesthetics and fresh interpretations of Star Wars archetypes. However, it has now been announced that the game will shut down on October 1st of this year, with a final content update scheduled for April 15th. In the wake of this news, players can now request refunds for in-game currency, and the third season will be extended with reruns of seasonal events.

Fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of the final hunter, Tuya, will be pleased to know that they will still be able to enjoy multiplayer battles with this character. Tuya will be introduced in the final content update and will be available to play for free from the start for all players.

The End of the Journey

The announcement of Star Wars: Hunters' closure came as a surprise to many, especially given the lack of prior indications that the game was underperforming. Given Zynga's robust standing in the industry, there must be underlying factors contributing to the decision to shelve the game. One plausible explanation could be the oversaturation of the pseudo-hero shooter genre, coupled with a shift in the Star Wars fanbase towards an older demographic, which may not be as interested in fast-paced mobile multiplayer experiences.

For those who have yet to experience Star Wars: Hunters, there's still time to dive in before the game is discontinued. Make sure to check out our comprehensive tier list of Hunters in SW: Hunters, ranked by class, to optimize your gameplay experience before the final curtain falls.
