Squad Busters 2.0 Launches on Android Ahead of First Anniversary

Squad Busters is celebrating its first anniversary with the release of its monumental update 2.0 on May 13th. Since its launch in 2024, the game has struggled to achieve the level of popularity that Supercell had hoped for. With the introduction of 2.0, the developers are aiming to revitalize the game and attract a larger audience.

This Isn’t Just a Tweak or Two

Squad Busters 2.0 isn't just a minor update; it's a complete overhaul. The update fundamentally changes how battles are conducted and victories are achieved, essentially rebooting the game. One of the most significant changes is the introduction of Heroes. Players will now select a Hero to lead their squad, and if the Hero is defeated, the game is over. This adds a new layer of strategy to the gameplay.

The mechanics of combat have also been revamped. Players no longer need to stop moving to engage in combat; instead, movement and attacks are seamlessly integrated, leading to more dynamic, fast-paced, and intense matches. Additionally, the victory conditions have shifted. Instead of eliminating all opponents, the focus is now on taking down the enemy's Hero, which some players compare to a more complex version of Brawl Stars.

Squad Busters 2.0 Is Dumping a Lot of Old Features

With the new update, several old game modes such as Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder are being removed. Some skins and the original progression systems will also be discontinued. However, Supercell is compensating players with Hero Points and other items to ease the transition.

The rapid changes in Squad Busters are a clear response to the game's lack of the explosive popularity seen in Supercell's other titles like Clash of Clans and Brawl Stars. With the first anniversary approaching on May 29th, Supercell is not only pushing out this significant update but also launching daily piñata events. These events will offer players the chance to unlock a new Hero, Mortis, adding further excitement to the celebrations.

You can download Squad Busters 2.0 from the Google Play Store and experience the revamped gameplay for yourself.
