Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed in an interview with Decider that he hasn't yet recorded any lines, and that numerous aspects of the film are still "being figured out." This news shouldn't come as a complete surprise, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.
"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the commencement of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things are being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively minor, his character is poised to become a central antagonist in the third. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: Jerome portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges at the film's conclusion not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.
This alternate Miles's journey differs significantly from the protagonist's. The radioactive spider bite intended for him instead affects the main timeline's Miles. Consequently, this Miles never becomes Spider-Man, and following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, his reality falls under the control of supervillains, leading him to become one himself.
The unfolding conflict between this villainous Miles and the main Spider-Man will likely be the focus of Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans should brace themselves for a considerable wait. Deadline suggests a 2026 release at the earliest, although maintaining the previous film's release schedule would push it to 2028.
