Shin Chan: Shiro and Coal Town hits mobile exclusively on Crunchyroll.

By JoshuaMay 25,2025

Crunchyroll is gearing up to enhance its anime collection with a new exclusive addition for Ani-May: Shin Chan: Shiro and the Coal Town. This title will be available exclusively on mobile through Crunchyroll's subscription service, joining the ranks of other exciting releases this month.

For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Crayon Shin-Chan is a beloved Japanese manga series that follows the daily escapades of Shinnosuke Nohara, his family, and friends. This series, much like the iconic Doraemon, has a strong following in Japan but is less known internationally.

Shin Chan: Shiro and the Coal Town not only brings Shinnosuke and his companions into a new adventure but also acts as a spiritual successor to the cult classic My Summer Vacation (known in Japan as Boku No Natsuyasumi) from the PlayStation One era. This life simulation game, which recently received a Western release, is a nostalgic gem for many fans.

Summertime
Even if you're not a fan of the series or nostalgic for Boku No Natsuyasumi, Shiro and the Coal Town offers a delightful experience. Dive into the daily life of Shin Chan as he explores the scenic countryside of Akita, engaging in various activities and mini-games such as fishing and gardening.

For an added layer of intrigue, venture into the mysterious Coal Town, where a more fantastical summer awaits. This title not only enriches the life sim genre but also showcases Crunchyroll's commitment to bringing unique and beloved cult classics to mobile platforms.
