Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Super Thin Design Unveiled

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its latest flagship smartphone, at the May Unpacked event. While it closely resembles the Galaxy S25 introduced earlier in 2025, the new, thinner design sets it apart, aptly named for its edge.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge shares many specifications with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, including the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a high-resolution 200MP camera. The key distinction lies in its chassis, now slimmer at just 5.8mm thick compared to the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This reduced thickness also makes the phone lighter, weighing in at a mere 163g.

Despite its slim profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge maintains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the Samsung Galaxy S25, which is slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch display of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its thin and large design, durability is a significant concern. Samsung addresses this by upgrading to the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The real test, however, will be how it withstands everyday scenarios, such as sitting on it in your pocket. Will it be enough to prevent a potential "bendgate" scenario?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge also includes the same "Mobile AI" suite of tools that debuted with the Samsung Galaxy S24 last year and were refined in 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables significant on-device AI processing, enhancing privacy by minimizing reliance on cloud services. Nevertheless, many AI applications will still require cloud support. Samsung's innovative features, such as summarizing notifications and news articles, add convenience for users.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge start today, with prices beginning at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB model. It is available in three color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung emphasizes the durability of this sleek device, and we can only hope it lives up to those claims.
