Ryan Reynolds Eyes Deadpool and X-Men Film Fusion

By EthanJun 20,2025

Although no formal pitch has been made to Marvel just yet, Ryan Reynolds is reportedly exploring the early stages of a potential Deadpool and X-Men crossover film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this project would center around an ensemble cast featuring Deadpool alongside three or four other X-Men characters. Interestingly, Reynolds envisions the Merc with a Mouth playing more of a supporting role, allowing the other heroes to take the lead and be showcased in fresh, unconventional ways.

This proposed film would exist outside of the standalone X-Men movie currently being developed by Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie. However, it appears to follow a similar creative path as *Deadpool & Wolverine*, a film Reynolds also championed. Known for developing his concepts independently before bringing them to Marvel, Reynolds previously pitched *Deadpool & Wolverine* as a modest road trip-style movie before it evolved into its final form.

This isn't the first time rumors have surfaced about Reynolds working on an ensemble Deadpool film, but this latest update gives us a clearer picture of how he intends to expand the character’s universe. As for which X-Men might join the chaos, that remains speculative. Deadpool has a history of teaming up with various mutants—both allies and antagonists—such as Wolverine, Colossus, Sabertooth, Pyro, and even Gambit, portrayed by Channing Tatum, so any of them could potentially make an appearance.
