Rosario Dawson Surprised by Mark Hamill's Return as Luke Skywalker on The Mandalorian Set - Star Wars Celebration

The surprise appearance of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in *The Mandalorian* stands out as one of the most thrilling moments in Star Wars history. Rosario Dawson, who joined the franchise in *The Book of Boba Fett*, shared a fascinating anecdote during Star Wars Celebration about how she was completely in the dark about Hamill's cameo until he actually stepped onto the set.

To maintain the secrecy of Luke's return, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau cleverly used Jedi Master Plo Koon as a decoy in the scripts. This tactic was also applied to Dawson, leading to a humorous and unexpected revelation on set. Dawson recounted her confusion upon reading about Plo Koon's supposed arrival in *The Book of Boba Fett*, given his tragic demise in *Revenge of the Sith*. "I was like... I don't know... but people disappear and then they come back, so maybe it's possible?" she mused. The surprise was complete when Hamill appeared, humorously commenting, "Plo Koon? That wouldn't even make sense!" to which Dawson replied, "I know it didn't make sense, but I still had to think it made sense because I got the script and everything!"

Filoni and Favreau expressed their regret over not informing Dawson earlier, with Filoni admitting, "That was bad on us!" and adding, "I think we assumed you'd gotten told the right information. We were in it so much." Favreau emphasized the importance of keeping two major secrets on the show: Grogu's reveal at the end of the first episode and Luke Skywalker's appearance at the end of season two. Despite leaks elsewhere, they managed to keep these surprises intact, although they overlooked informing Dawson.

Dawson took it in stride, jokingly saying, "I love it, they know I can't be trusted." This lighthearted exchange highlights the lengths to which the team went to preserve the integrity and surprise of these pivotal moments in the Star Wars saga.
