Rockstar Games' Danny Dyer Movie Post: Explained

By RyanMar 14,2025

Rockstar Games' recent X post promoting the film Marching Powder and its star, Danny Dyer, likely left many scratching their heads. Why would a studio with 21 million followers promote a relatively small British film? Let's unravel this mystery.

Who is Danny Dyer?

For those unfamiliar, Daniel John Dyer, or Danny Dyer as he's known, is a prominent East London actor. In the UK, he's a household name, often described as an "absolute legend"—a term signifying someone highly respected and admired for their unique personality and outspoken nature. His career spans back to 1993, with a reputation for portraying gritty, working-class characters, mirroring his own outspoken public persona and often controversial opinions on social and political issues. His vibrant social media presence further adds to his larger-than-life image.

Danny Dyer's Connection to Rockstar

Many GTA fans will recognize Dyer's voice as Kent Paul, manager of the fictional band Love Fist in GTA: Vice City and later, the Gurning Chimps in GTA: San Andreas. However, a deeper connection exists. Rockstar Games produced the 2004 film The Football Factory, starring Dyer and directed by Nick Love. This explains Rockstar's X post; Marching Powder reunites Dyer and Love, sharing thematic similarities with The Football Factory, focusing on football hooliganism, heavy drinking, drug use, and a distinctly British brand of dark humor.

While Rockstar's involvement in Marching Powder is purely supportive, stemming from their previous collaboration, the post has sparked speculation.

Kent Paul's Return in GTA 6?

The short answer is: we don't know. The X post offers no clues regarding GTA 6. However, it's worth considering the possibility. The GTA universe is divided into distinct eras (3D and HD), with limited crossover. Yet, elements from previous games reappear, like Grove Street and various gangs. Even Lazlo has made multiple appearances. Interestingly, Kent Paul has a star on the Vinewood Walk of Fame. While a return is plausible, the Marching Powder post doesn't confirm anything.
