Resident Evil 6 Remaster: Coming Soon?

The ESRB has updated the rating for Resident Evil 6, confirming its Mature 17+ rating and adding Xbox Series X|S to the list of supported platforms.

Initially released in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Resident Evil 6 received a remastered edition in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This new listing strongly suggests a further remaster is in the works for current-gen consoles, likely including PlayStation 5.

Interestingly, the game's genre description has shifted. Previous versions were categorized as "third-person shooters," while the new ESRB entry labels it "survival horror." This subtle change hints at potential differences between this release and prior versions, though specifics remain undisclosed. A full reveal is expected to clarify these details.

Beyond this remaster, anticipation builds for Resident Evil 9, rumored to be set four years after the events of Resident Evil Village.
