Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege X: A Major Update, Not a New Game
Ubisoft recently unveiled Rainbow Six Siege X, a significant upgrade to the nine-year-old tactical shooter, rather than a completely new game. The announcement, made on February 17, 2025, precedes the game's 10th anniversary.
March 2025 Showcase
A dedicated showcase is planned for March 13, 2025, at 10:00 am PDT / 1:00 pm EDT in Atlanta, Georgia. This event promises an immersive experience, unveiling the extensive changes coming with Siege X and other surprises. Limited in-person tickets ($10 USD, including a shirt and in-game cosmetic pack) are available to legal residents of the USA and Canada, aged 18+, with a good standing Rainbow Six Siege account. A VIP package giveaway (hotel, flight, event entry) is also running for US and Canadian residents.
Siege X will introduce new gameplay mechanics, enhanced tactical elements, refined controls, and substantial overall improvements. Specific details will be revealed during the March showcase.
10th Anniversary & Season 1: Operation Prep Phase
Rainbow Six Siege, initially released December 1, 2015, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC (later ported to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S), has enjoyed a long run as a live-service title. Siege X aims to further extend its lifespan.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary, Season 1, titled "Operation Prep Phase," launches March 4, 2025, introducing a new operator, Aurora (deployable bulletproof doors), a new elite skin for Aruni, and a revised reputation system. Given the timing, the major Siege X upgrades are likely to be implemented on live servers at a later date.
