P-Studio Director Confident in Fresh Persona 4 Revival

By SamuelMar 18,2026

Atlus unveiled at the Xbox Game Showcase that a remake of Persona 4, titled Persona 4 Revival, is officially in development. However, the 40-second trailer sparked mixed reactions among fans.

Some criticized the graphics, color palette, animations, and lighting, while others expressed disappointment over the lack of a release date or confirmation of a Nintendo Switch 2 version.

"The visuals look like generic Unreal Engine assets," said one player. "It almost feels fan-made, no offense," to which another replied: "That trailer was seriously underwhelming."

Given the remake was an open secret in the gaming community, some speculated the teaser was a rushed acknowledgment of the project’s existence.

"This trailer screams ‘here, take it’ vibes," responded one fan, while another said: "It feels like they slapped this together after the voice actors confirmed they weren’t returning. Probably had marketing whip up a 30-second clip that same day."

Post-reveal, P-Studio director Kazuhisa Wada took to social media to reassure fans, stating that Atlus is "dedicated to advancing the Persona series as a studio."

"We’re thrilled to announce Persona 4 Revival. More details will follow in time," Wada shared. "Persona 4 has inspired numerous spin-offs, including a TV anime, Persona 4 Arena, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Persona 4: Dancing All Night. It’s a cherished title at Atlus and holds a special place in my heart.

"We’re pouring our passion into this project, confident it will deliver a fresh and exciting experience for both new players and longtime fans. We can’t wait to share it with you."

Wada continued: "We’re also actively shaping the future of the Persona series. Our team is working diligently to meet global fan expectations, and progress is strong." He thanked supporters and urged them to "stay tuned" for updates.

We rated the original Persona 4 a 9/10, noting: "It significantly improves on earlier Persona titles, offering a deeper blend of dungeon crawling and social links that keeps players hooked." The enhanced Persona 4 Golden remains the definitive way to play on modern consoles, though fans continue to plead for a Nintendo Switch version after years of requests.

Persona 4 Revival is set for release on Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC, with day-one availability on Game Pass. For more, explore all announcements from Xbox Games Showcase June 2025.
