How Much to Upgrade Switch Games to Switch 2 Edition?

Nintendo has confirmed the cost of upgrading select Switch games to their Switch 2 editions. Upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will cost $9.99. However, upgrading Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree will be more expensive, with the UK Nintendo eShop listing the upgrade at £16.99 / €19.99, significantly higher than the £7.99 / €9.99 for the Zelda titles. Although precise U.S. prices are not yet available, it's clear that these upgrades come at a premium.

Switch 2: Game-Key Cards?

Recent revelations indicate that many physical third-party Nintendo Switch 2 games in Japan and the West will be Game-Key Cards. In the US, Sega's Switch 2 titles like Sonic X Shadow Generations and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut are listed as Game-Key Cards. However, a few third-party games, such as Cyberpunk 2077, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, and No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES Aiba Edition, will be available in traditional physical formats.

Switch 2 Game Previews

IGN recently previewed two major upcoming Switch 2 titles: Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World. Both games are available for preorder now, and here's what our reviewers had to say:

Donkey Kong Bananza: "I believe Bananza is set to be one of the most visually stunning Nintendo games to date. It truly leverages the Switch 2's capabilities – the environments are breathtaking, and DK’s animations are wonderfully expressive. This game feels like the arrival of the next generation of first-party Nintendo titles."

Mario Kart World: "Mario Kart World is poised to be the ultimate Switch 2 launch game, setting the stage for the console's future. The new open-world format and Knockout Tour modes are significant additions to the franchise. The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is exhilarating, and we're eager for more, despite wishing it were slightly less expensive."
