IGDA, IGDAF, WIGI Launch Mobile Port Quest

• Port Quest is a new joint initiative by the IGDA, IGDA Foundation, and Women In Games International
• It provides developers with comprehensive support for bringing their game releases to mobile platforms
• Could this initiative spark a renaissance in mobile game porting?

It's fair to say that with each passing year, the technological divide between mobile and PC/console platforms continues to shrink. The caliber of shooters, RPGs, and strategy games available on mobile today would have been unimaginable just five years ago. Yet the industry continues to push forward, with the new Port Quest initiative aiming to accelerate this progress even further.

Port Quest, led by the International Game Developers Association (IGDA), Women In Games International (WIGI), and the IGDA Foundation, focuses specifically on expanding mobile game porting opportunities. The program supports development teams throughout the entire process by providing expert guidance from industry veterans, along with workshops, marketing campaigns, and various other resources.

Selected participants will also receive prominent featuring in dedicated showcase events - exciting news for gamers eager to discover upcoming mobile ports.

Rethinking Mobile Ports

Applications remain open until September 15th, with Devcom conference attendees gaining access to an exclusive panel discussion. While players might not immediately grasp the significance, anyone familiar with the challenges of mobile development will recognize this as a major step forward.

Mobile gaming has long struggled against perceptions of being a 'lesser' platform, despite its massive global reach that eclipses virtually all other gaming systems. This initiative has the potential to revolutionize mobile gaming by making high-quality ports more accessible than ever before. The possibilities appear virtually limitless.
