Path of Exile 2 Endgame: A Comprehensive Guide to Rituals

Path of Exile 2 introduces four significant endgame events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revamped endgame mechanic inspired by the original Path of Exile's Ritual League. We'll cover how to initiate Ritual events, crucial mechanics, the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, the Pinnacle boss (King in the Mists), and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.

Identifying and Initiating Ritual Events

Atlas Map Node with Ritual Icon

On the Atlas screen, map nodes hosting guaranteed endgame events are marked with specific icons. Ritual Altars are indicated by a red pentagram icon with a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen map node.

Once in a map with a Ritual, several Altars will appear. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting the event, introducing unique mechanics or enemy types. These modifiers might include massive rat swarms or areas flooded with life-draining blood.

To activate a Ritual, interact with an Altar after reviewing its modifiers. A large circle will illuminate around the Altar; remain within this zone and eliminate all enemies to complete the Ritual. Leaving the illuminated area prematurely ends the event without rewards. A map is considered complete once all Rituals within it are successfully finished.

Confronting the King in the Mists: The Ritual Pinnacle Boss

The reward screen may offer "An Audience With The King," a unique currency granting access to The Crux Of Nothingness, the King in the Mists' lair. Use this currency at your Realmgate on the Atlas map to initiate the boss fight.

The King in the Mists' mechanics largely mirror his campaign counterpart. For practice, revisit Act 1 Cruel difficulty and create a new instance of the Freythorn zone. Defeating him awards 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Mastering the Ritual Passive Skill Tree

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Atlas Passive Skill Tree includes a Ritual section, enhancing Ritual events. These passives reduce Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop rates. Access it via the Atlas map's top-left button, located in the bottom right of the main Atlas tree.

The Ritual tree features five prongs, eight Notable nodes, and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists' difficulty. Each King in the Mists defeat grants 2 skill points, necessitating increased difficulty for each new Notable node.

Prioritize these Notable nodes: "From The Mists," "Spreading Darkness," and "Ominous Portents" for increased rewards with minimal drawbacks. Subsequently, focus on "Tempting Offers" and "He Approaches" for enhanced Omen and "An Audience With The King" chances. The table below summarizes the Notable nodes and their effects:

Notable Delirium Passive Effect Requirements
Promised Devotion Ritual Altar skills deal 25% increased Damage. Deferring Favours at Ritual Altars requires 50% less Tribute, and they appear 50% sooner N/A
From The Mists Rituals contain 2 extra packs of enemies N/A
Reinvigorated Sacrifices Every time a monster Revives in a Ritual it gains 20% Toughness and deals 10% more damage. Revived monsters no longer penalize Tribute. From The Mists
Spreading Darkness There are always 4x Ritual Altars in maps with a Ritual N/A
Between Two Worlds Rituals always contain a Wildwood Wisp, which increases Tribute earned Spreading Darkness
Ominous Portents Rituals spawn monster waves 25% faster, but Favours are 50% more likely to contain an Omen N/A
He Approaches Revived monsters in Rituals have a 20% chance to be Magic or Rare. Rituals have a 50% chance to contain An Audience With The King Ominous Portents
Tempting Offers You may re-roll Favours in a Ritual an extra time, and it costs 25% less Tribute to re-roll N/A

Unlocking Rewards: Tribute and Favours

Completed Rituals grant Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for randomized Favours. More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-level currencies to Rare gear and high-tier currencies. "An Audience With The King" is exclusively obtained through Favours.

Favours may also contain powerful Omen items, enhancing other currency items. Omens are consumed upon use. Examples include Omens of Annulment (restricting modifier removal) and Omens of Alchemy (limiting added modifiers). Omens are highly sought after for crafting powerful items or trading for valuable currencies.

Beyond the Tribute and Favour system, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies like Exalted Orbs and Vaal Orbs. The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a pool exclusive to the Ritual event.
