You Might Soon Be Able to Play PC Games on Android with the Xiaomi WinPlay Engine!

Xiaomi's new WinPlay Engine: Play Windows games on your Android tablet!

Xiaomi has unveiled its innovative WinPlay Engine, enabling users to play Windows games directly on their Android tablets with minimal performance impact. Currently in beta, this exciting tool is exclusive to the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro.

This impressive feat is achieved through a three-layer virtualization system powered by Xiaomi's HyperCore kernel, leveraging the Pad 6S Pro's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Xiaomi claims a negligible 2.9% GPU performance loss, a small price to pay for the convenience of enjoying PC gaming on a tablet.

Key Features:

  • Near-Native Performance: Experience Windows games with minimal performance degradation.
  • Steam Support (Potentially): Access your existing Steam library, though full compatibility details are pending.
  • Bluetooth Peripheral Support: Utilize keyboards, mice, and even Xbox controllers with haptic feedback.
  • Local Multiplayer: Enjoy local multiplayer sessions with up to four players.

Setup:

While promising, the setup isn't completely seamless yet (beta limitations). Users need to purchase games from platforms like Steam or GOG, manually transfer the game files to their tablet, and launch them via the AI Treasure Box app.

Availability:

Currently, the WinPlay Engine is exclusive to the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro. Future compatibility with other devices remains unannounced.

The potential of playing Windows games with near-native performance on an Android tablet is undeniably exciting. Stay tuned for further updates! Next up, we'll explore Crunchyroll's addition of Tengami, a captivating puzzle game.
