Fields of Mistria's captivating romances: Can you actually date in the game?

NPC Studio's Fields of Mistria is celebrated for its well-developed romance options, engaging dialogue, and thoughtfully crafted romance storylines. But can you go on dates with these characters?

The short answer is: not yet, technically. However, the existing romance system is incredibly rewarding, justifying the time investment and the Steam price.

Fields of Mistria's November 2024 update increased the maximum relationship level (hearts) from four to six, adding a new event for each romanceable NPC at each milestone. Cutscenes unlock at two, four, and six hearts, with plans for eight and ten-heart events in future updates. The March 2025 update, however, won't increase the heart cap or add new events.

While the delay in full-fledged dating might disappoint some, the current romance system shines. The dialogue is rich and realistically flirty, and even early events, while potentially platonic on the surface, leave room for romantic interpretation, creating a satisfyingly gradual progression.

The Shooting Star Festival, introduced in the last major update, offers a form of dating with eligible NPCs (requiring four hearts). While you can share a stargazing evening with Caldarus, a full date at the Summit location, as seen with other characters, isn't yet available. This might change with the March 2025 update, which will focus on unlocking the dragon's romance storyline.

In conclusion, while official dates aren't currently a feature, Fields of Mistria provides a compelling romantic experience that will likely satisfy players until the dating mechanic is fully implemented.
