Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, spotlighting deeper connections to the Superman narrative by introducing Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene. The trailer starts with Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl conducting a dismissive interview with John Cena's Peacemaker. The interview takes a sour turn, leaving Peacemaker visibly dejected as he storms out of the building. This marks the first glimpse of these supporting characters who are also set to appear in James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie.

Peacemaker Season 2 is slated for release on August 21, following the premiere of Superman on July 11, making it the third installment in the new DCU. This revamped cinematic universe, orchestrated by James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran, aims to distance itself from the critically panned DC Extended Universe, which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. Despite this shift, some elements are retained, with Peacemaker serving as a prime example. While Season 1 was part of the old DCEU, Season 2 will transition into the new DCU.
James Gunn has emphasized that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though it's still uncertain which elements will carry over from the DCEU to the DCU. He has confirmed that the entire Team Peacemaker will return, with John Cena reprising his lead role, alongside actors like Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo. Gunn also revealed that the series will be set after the events of Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's storyline even influencing Peacemaker.
