Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective from April 1, 2025. This announcement was made through a recent press release, which also detailed other significant leadership changes within Sony.
In a broader corporate shift, Sony's CFO, Hiroki Totoki, is set to become the president and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, taking over from Kenichiro Yoshida, who has held the position since April 2018 following Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, currently the SVP of finance, corporate development, and strategy, will step into the role of CFO.
Last year, following the retirement of former SIE CEO Jim Ryan, it was decided that leadership responsibilities at SIE would be divided between Nishino and Hermen Hulst. Hulst was appointed to head PlayStation Studios, while Nishino took charge of hardware and technology. With Nishino's new role as the sole CEO of SIE, he will now oversee the entire operation as well as lead the platform business group. Hulst will continue in his position as the head of PlayStation Studios.
Nishino, who has been with Sony since 2000, previously served as the SVP of the platform experience group. Commenting on his new role, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
