Following today's Nintendo Direct showcase for the Switch 2, Nintendo officially announced the console's retail price at $449.99.
Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on April 9, with the full launch scheduled for June 5, 2025.
"The Nintendo Switch 2 represents the evolution of home console gaming with portable functionality, building upon eight years of innovation since the original Switch," stated Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa.
"Featuring revolutionary new capabilities that redefine gaming experiences, we're confident the Switch 2 will significantly advance our mission to bring joy to players worldwide."
Nintendo Switch 2 bundle contents include:
Nintendo Switch 2 main unit
Two Joy-Con 2 controllers (Left + Right)
Joy-Con 2 Grip accessory
Controller wrist straps
Switch 2 docking station
Ultra High-Speed HDMI cable
AC power adapter
USB-C charging cable
The Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle retails for $499.99 in the U.S., featuring the console plus a digital download code for Mario Kart World. Since the standalone game costs $79.99, the bundle offers a $30 discount on the racing title.
While console pricing always generates significant interest, the Switch 2's cost has prompted particular discussion given current economic conditions. As industry analysts noted in January, factors like supply chain limitations and tariff uncertainties may have influenced Nintendo's pricing strategy. Nevertheless, experts predict strong launch sales regardless of the price point.
