"Nintendo Switch 2 Fans Applaud as Zelda Speedrunner Defeats Boss in Under 10 Minutes"

By LoganMay 18,2025

A The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild speedrunner showcased their skills at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Japan, managing to beat the critically-acclaimed RPG within a tight 10-minute playtime cap. As reported by VGC, Japanese content creator Ikaboze took on the challenge using an existing save file, unaware of the equipment Link had available. In an audacious move, Ikaboze decided to "defeat the final boss while tied up completely naked and with all my equipment removed." Starting from a save that placed him directly at the final boss fight with Ganon, Ikaboze managed to defeat the villain in just seven minutes, prompting spontaneous applause from onlookers.

The feat was particularly impressive considering Ikaboze was using an unfamiliar controller and couldn't hear the game over the convention hall's noise. “I was surprised by how many people had gathered,” Ikaboze remarked. “Staff were even filming on their smartphones. This was the first time anyone had completed the Breath of the Wild demo, and staff congratulated me."

The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and support for the new "Zelda Notes" service within the Nintendo Switch Online app. Existing Switch owners of Breath of the Wild can access these enhancements by purchasing a $10 "upgrade pack." Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are available at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers.
